Mommy Daddy Doppelgangers

Matt has always been frustrated with the fact that people tend to think all white men with dark beards look alike. There was a guy in Div School with us with whom people often confused Matt, just because the guy also had a beard (and was about the same height and build, I might add), though the other guy had a darker complexion than my dear Smiling Irishman.

This frustration comes out again when people tell Matt he looks like one of two people:

1. Richard Karn (AKA Al Borlin of "Home Improvement") or
2. Ricky Gervais (AKA the Michael Scott of the British "The Office")

A couple months ago, I pulled up YouTube to play an Elmo video for Kate, and she saw this in the "recommended video" sidebar.
"Daddy!" she squealed.

Since then, I've wondered when Kate would confuse some other woman's image with mine, and I'm proud to say it's happened twice, with not-too-shabby results.

CNN's Soledad O'Brien.
What a lovely, successful woman, with dark hair and skin like mine!
Thanks, Kate!

But she also cried "Mommy!" when she saw this...
Marilyn Monroe pornographic playing cards.
We found them while cleaning out my grandparents' house, and might try to sell them on eBay.

And I might start putting a towel on a little quicker when I get out of the shower!

Who is your celebrity doppelganger?

Ricky Gervais' character's name was David Brent. Michael Scott is Steve Carrell's character on the American "Office", which should have taken a hint from the British show and quit while it was still funny.

My boyfriend is also white with dark hair and full beard... people love to comment on the beard. Then when he shaves it they're like, "umm... you shaved your beard?" like he's not allowed to or something! Also a friend recently pointed out someone who looked "just like" (i.e., not at all) John, just because he had a beard. He definitely finds it annoying sometimes!

Oh and I don't think I have a celeb doppelganger, but sometimes people tell me I share some resemblances with Kelly Clarkson, which is fine with me :D
